Rowntree Family Day Update – 21 August 2021

Our first Rowntree Family Day is finally upon us! Committee Members and volunteers have worked extremely hard to make this day happen, and we thought that you would find the information below useful.

Where is the event located?

The day’s activities, the rugby pitch, the kids inflatables, the hog roast, and the cash bar will be located next to our new home pitch –  New Earswick Sports and Social Club (White Rose Avenue, New Earswick, YO32 4AG):

Alternative ways to get there

  • Cycle: a traffic free cycle path – ideal for families cycling to the event! – runs alongside Wigginton Road and through Bootham Stray. If you would like more information, please check out the York cycle routes map or talk to Romain, our Club Secretary.
  • Bus: routes 1, 13, 14, and 20 all lead to NESC, please find the bus route map here.
  • Driving and car parking: parking is limited at our NESC home, but alternative parking options can be found on Elm Tree Mews, by the New Earswick Swimming Pool, a short walk away from the Sports and Social Club. We would also like to remind you that York Races will be in full swing, so traffic around the city will be heavy.

Red Wristbands

All Visitors will be provided with a red wristband on arrival to allow us to identify those that are part of the Club Family Day. You will be asked to show your wristband when you purchase food or drinks. If you find yourself without a wristband, please approach one of our friendly volunteers who will be easy to spot in their hi-vis jackets.

What should I bring?

CASH, cash, and a little more cash for good measure! The bar and raffle tickets can only be purchased with cash, and we strongly encourage you to get your drinks from our bar and participate in the raffle. Not only will you have a chance to win amazing prizes, but you will also be helping the Club purchase post protectors and a storage container!!

Picnic blankets, and if you are worried about getting back up, picnic chairs. The event is located on a field, so there will be no seating available. Please do let us know in advance if this is a concern, and we will do our best to try and find a solution for you.

Toilets and Facilities

The toilets are located inside New Earswick Sports and Social Club. Please ask one of our friendly Volunteers at the event if you need assistance, they will be wearing high-viz jackets. We are also asking for every Member of the Club to show consideration for families present and neighboring houses and avoid mistaking the hedges for public facilities.
