Welcome to our newsletter for members of Rowntree RUFC. In this newsletter you will find our monthly highlights, keeping you connected with the life of our wonderful club.
In this issue:
In our July newsletter, you will find out about important upcoming events, the agenda for our yearly club AGM, a sneak pick of our new strip, and an important piece of news regarding the rekindling of our Lions team and projects for a Vets side.
But first, please save the date for our end of August traditional big Family Day, to be held on Saturday 21st August at New Earswick Sports & Social Club. This year’s merriments will include a tantalising fixture, which will pit Under 30s versus Over 30s. Food will be available, and the bar will be open for beverages. Kids will also enjoy outdoor games and rugby skills games.
Rowntree RUFC 66th AGM – Thursday 8 July 2021 at 7:00pm
Our yearly AGM will be held (outdoors) at New Earswick Sports and Social Club. We hope that old and new club members will be able to join us for this important moment in the life of the club. It will be a good opportunity to meet the committee members who work tirelessly for all to enjoy playing rugby and being part of a truly special club. The agenda for the evening is as follows:
- Welcome and Club Update
- Introduction of current Committee Members
- Finance Updates
- Playing Update
- AOBs and Closure
Minutes of the 65th AGM will be circulated prior to the meeting.
The Rowntree Lions are back!
As you may know, after a two-decade hiatus, Rowntree RUFC will be fielding two teams next season, with the Lions competing in the Merit League. This is a huge milestone for the club, and that is not all. As soon as rules allow for rugby with scrums and mauls to be played, we are working hard to raise a team of Vets (that is over 35 years old, or at least looking like it). If you have questions about the Lions, please get in touch with our Lions manager, Mick Welsh, and if you would like information about the Vets, please contact Romain Cames. Both of which can be contacted via our ‘Contact Us’ page.
A colourful new strip and beautiful woolly hats
With new teams and new games on the horizon, it was clear that an additional strip was needed as an alternative solution in case of any colour clashes. So with a virtual drum roll…..here it is!
We hope you will like the new look. If you would like one for yourself for the bargain price of £34.90, please text our coach Fordy on 07760 362323 indicating the size, number, and if you want your name on it.
And since it is better to be prepared for the unpredictable Yorkshire weather, we are also planning on ordering a batch of woolly hats – which should get to us in a most timely manner by October. Please let us know through the website, via our ‘Contact Us’ page, if you would like to order one or many*.
*Price TBC – This Will be based on the number of woolly hats ordered.
